The fourth meeting of the Steering Committee of the OliveCulture Scale-Up project reviewed the results achieved and the priorities for the final year of activities. Supported by Italy, the initiative aims to make Pakistan’s olive sector more competitive and sustainable, while ensuring compliance with international standards.
Key achievements include the adoption of the National Olive Sector Policy, Pakistan’s permanent membership of the International Olive Council, the upgrading of laboratories and improvements in technical skills and quality standards.
During the final phase, efforts will focus on strengthening national institutions, quality certification, sensory analysis and the development of business groups across the sector. These activities will also help promote women’s economic empowerment and create new opportunities for rural communities.
The project is implemented by CIHEAM Bari, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), in partnership with Pakistan’s Ministry of National Food Security and Research.
