Following the Government’s decision to establish an Italian center of excellence for multidisciplinary training within the complex of the former Agronomic Institute for Overseas (IAO), now the Florence headquarters of AICS, Deputy Minister Edmondo Cirielli met today with representatives of institutions and local authorities involved in the redevelopment and restoration process of the complex. The center will contribute to achieving two major objectives: promoting growth, development, and stability in partner countries, and supporting the internationalization of Italian businesses.
As part of his mission to Florence, Cirielli met with local authorities to ensure the role of the local territory in supporting key issues such as food security, sustainable water resource management, and sustainable agri-food value chains. On the sidelines of the meeting, the Deputy Minister also met with AICS staff.
“Revitalizing this complex is a priority for us: it will become an important hub within the Italian development cooperation system. In line with its long history, it will be the ideal place to strengthen our action in the fields of agri-food security and sustainable water resource management, also thanks to public-private partnerships and the contribution of local authorities and universities, as well as international organizations based in Italy,” Cirielli concluded.
