On December 3, 2024, the inaugural event for a new initiative promoting cultural rights in El Salvador was held at the National Theatre of San Salvador.

The event was attended by the Italian Ambassador to El Salvador, Paolo Emanuele Rozo Sordini, along with prominent authorities from the Republic of El Salvador and the Director of the Regional Office for Central America and the Caribbean of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), Paolo Gallizioli.

The three-year initiative, titled “Strengthening Cultural Rights through the Promotion of Inclusive Social Development,” is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) with a budget of €3.5 million. The executing entity will be the Ministry of Culture of El Salvador.

“As Italian Cooperation, we strongly believe that protecting and promoting cultural heritage and resources must be a cornerstone for the sustainable development of communities and territories,” said Ambassador Rozo Sordini.

The initiative will include several key activities, such as restoration projects, construction, and equipping of cultural spaces within the theatrical and museum network of major Salvadoran cities (San Salvador, Santa Ana, and San Miguel). Additionally, a training program in lutherie and restoration of culturally significant architectural heritage will be implemented using the school-laboratory methodology.
