During the ceremony for the Francesca Tardioli International Award for best practices in implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000), Marta Collu, AICS Gender Equality Focal Point, presented the innovative practices adopted by AICS to promote the inclusion of the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda priorities in development cooperation and humanitarian initiatives. This is achieved through the application of the “Women Voice Approach”. She emphasized: “A cultural shift is necessary for all of us, one that places women at the center—not because they are better than men, of course—but simply because their diversity and specific needs must ALWAYS be taken into account.”
This year, the award was granted to the Ministry of Defense, recognizing its commitment to raising awareness and enhancing female leadership within the Armed Forces. The ceremony was attended by numerous representatives from the academic and civil society sectors involved in the Advanced Training Course on Women, Peace, and Mediation, with which AICS collaborates. Also present were Giovanni Battista Iannuzzi, President of the Interministerial Committee for Human Rights, and Luca Fratini, MAECI – DGAP Coordinator for Women, Peace, and Security.
