Democratic Republic of Congo: visit of the AICS Director to the Lubumbashi Museum

As part of the mission on the 'Global Gateway' organized by the platform that brings together the main European development cooperation agencies, 'Practitioners network', the Director of AICS, Marco Rusconi, visited the National Museum of Lubumbashi, in the southeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

As part of the mission on the ‘Global Gateway’ organized by the platform that brings together the main European development cooperation agencies, ‘Practitioners network’, the Director of AICS, Marco Rusconi, visited the National Museum of Lubumbashi, in the southeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The institution is affiliated with the National Museums of Congo Institute (IMNC1) under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and Arts and is one of the beneficiaries of the ‘Strengthening African – Italian Museum Partnerships‘ (SAIMP) initiative, which involves a number of cultural institutions from Ethiopia, Uganda, and indeed the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the University of Turin as the lead partner alongside the Museum of Civilization – Museum of Culture, the University of Milan, and the Conservation and Restoration Center of Venaria Reale.

The main objective of the project, which will be launched on September 15 in Addis Ababa, is the joint reinterpretation of African collections as well as the enhancement of shared heritage.
