The Italian Ambassador to Belgrade, Luca Gori, took part in the handover ceremony of five waste collection vehicles destined for the public utility company Vidrak in the city of Valjevo, a municipality in central Serbia.
The initiative is part of the Development Support Program for the Serbian economy, known as the Antonione Protocol, and is implemented by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Serbia. The project aims to strengthen the capacities of the Ministry of European Integration, contributing to the country’s sustainable development.
In addition to the Acting Head of AICS Tirana, Letizia Fischioni, the ceremony was attended by several local and national authorities, including the Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović, the Mayor of Valjevo Lazar Gojković, and the Director of the Vidrak company Dragan Kuzmanović.
The intervention, with a total value of €730,000, represents a targeted investment to improve the efficiency of the municipal waste management system. The new vehicles will enable a more extensive and effective service, with direct benefits for citizens’ quality of life.
The operation is part of a broader framework of bilateral cooperation between Rome and Belgrade, which aims to support the development of local infrastructure, promote higher environmental standards, and accompany Serbia’s path towards European integration.
